My first try with the Konad stamping kit: SUCCESS!

Posted by Meiying on 8:51 AM
I decided to try the Konad stamping kit which I bought from Qoo10. I got to say after I looked at some really good youtube clips featuring this product, I was immediately interested. I love decorating my nails and when I have the time I would occasionally paint flowers or patterns. Things turn out well for my left nails since I'm a right-hander but it takes immense control and time for my left hand to paint the patterns properly for my right nails. With luck they might turn out nice but if not then bah.. The whole process of removing the polish, repainting etc is just too much of a hassle!!

I received the package in a few days after I purchased it (awesome seller!) and immediately went ahead to try it.
So this is the outcome of my nails:

Got to love the precise patterns and how well detailed and nicely it stamped on my nails. Especially for the lace design that will be super time consuming to paint on. Stamping on the designs take just a fraction of the time! My friends loved how cute it looked too!

So for this particular design I decided to go with the sweet Tiffany theme. I used the following materials (from left to right):
- Konad stamping plates
- China Glaze Aquadelic (really nice Tiffany color)
- Konad dual ended stamping kit and scraper set

m59 for the huge bow on my thumb

m57 for the lace pattern on the top right of this plate on my thumb
I got this especially for the lace design cos it's just so tough to paint by yourself..

I used the m3 plate for the star pattern for my index finger
and bow pattern for my pinkie

m77 using the top "necklace" pattern on my middle finger
I <3 the heart shaped patterns and will definitely try that one soon!

For the ring finger, I decided to go with some silver glitter to give it some bling :)

It's really simple and easy to use the plates. Just follow these few steps after you have painted 2 coats of the base nail polish:

  1. First you got to put a bit of nail polish on the pattern you want on the plate.
  2. Make sure to put sufficient nail polish in order to cover the entire area of the pattern.
  3. Use the pink scraper using the metal edge to scrape excess nail polish and spread the polish over the pattern.
  4. Use the rubber stamper to pick up the pattern. (don't wait too long or else the polish will dry :) )
  5. Transfer the pattern on to your desired nail area by stamping the pattern onto your nail.
  6. Wait awhile for it to dry before putting on top coat and you're done!

Something to note about using these plates, you might want to choose a polish pigmented and thick enough for stamping. Sheer looking polishes that need a few coats will not work and give that desired effect. I found that I didn't have enough pigmented polishes at home for the staples like white and black so I felt the need to buy the Konad special polishes.

I viewed elleandish's video here and found her designs really cute and chic. I prefer different nail patterns for each nail if possible as it gives variety.
After using the stamper kit I feel like getting more patterns to increase the variety of nail art patterns I can make. I found that there were other cheaper brands out there like Red Angel, Bundle Monster, Mash, Shany etc. Konad was the original but they are really quite expensive at about SGD$7.50 per plate.. I bought a new Shany set of 25 pieces at USD$15 and find it really worth it. Reviews mentioned that it seemed to be pretty good. I'm just waiting for Amazon to ship it in before I get my hands on it and play with them. Can't wait!
